About Us
Mojave Beach Productions has taken the concept of audiobooks and hurled it into the space age. True, our productions are adapted from books and e-books – all of them available through Amazon and wherever e-books can be read – but MBP has added brilliant music and believable sound effects to heighten your listening pleasure. Not to be confused with old-time radio, the object is to not a read story to you, or to dramatize it as if you’re part of some large audience, but to tell you – just you – a story as intimately as if you and the storyteller were chatting over a cup of coffee in your own living room. The only thing old-fashioned about MBP is the promise to bring you good old-fashioned entertainment through stories as modern as tomorrow. Best of all, they will always be free to you.
At the moment, we currently have six theaters to choose from:
- Dark Moon Library – Mysteries well-calculated to keep you in suspense.
- Sagebrush Theater – Westerns that bring the old-west to life again.
- The Voice of Halona – Stories of hope and inspiration.
- Polyester Theater – Rib-tickling comedy for the entire family.
- Itty Bits – Tender little morsels of short stories for people in a hurry.

Esther Luttrell
Esther Luttrell attended dozens of schools across the country because her father enjoyed traveling, although she had to quit school to go to work when she was thirteen. Her father kept traveling, but he forgot to take his wife and daughter. Despite the lack of formal education, Esther was named American’s Most Promising Young Poet early in her career and went on to participate in a PhD grant at the University of Missouri-Columbia as campus filmmaker. Later, she became executive assistant to the vice president of MGM-TV, was production coordinator on national network programs, and wrote screenplays. Her last feature film screenplay was Te Ata, for Sovereign Studios. Esther first ventured into audio production by writing and recording children’s programs under the title “The Magic of…” Her first taped production, The Magic of Apples, Bees & Calico Cats, generated so many orders she had to stop production. “I wasn’t prepared for that kind of volume,” she admits. Some years later, she returned to the notion of producing audio productions, this time intending to promote and sell them on the Internet. It was 2001 and all the “experts” told her that she was insane. She was reminded that less than 1% of the country’s population owned a personal computer and that no one would “ever” buy off the Internet. “They want to touch and smell and taste what they buy,” they argued. With only three audio productions completed, she allowed herself to be convinced the “experts” were right and she was wrong. It would be nearly 20 years before she squared her shoulders and vowed to create her own audio production company no matter who said otherwise. By then, she had written and published over 20 novels, but she made the decision to “tell” her stories through podcasting. With the wise and enthusiastic counsel of Steve Young in Hawaii and the assistance of co-producer Patrick McGranahan in Kansas City, Mojave Beach Productions became a reality. “If anyone joins us because they think we’re going to be a Fortune 500 company, they’re in the wrong place. We don’t sell DVDs. Our programs are sponsored. Dr. Jim Dincalci, founder and CEO of the Forgiveness Foundation International, read my book, Evidence of God, and offered to help get the production company started. Profit from sponsorships pay talent and maintain the company. Beyond that, we fund individuals who devote their life to rescuing animals, worldwide. “Patrick came up with the phrase Streaming Entertainment Network, which sums it up beautifully. Right now we are producing comedies, westerns, dramas, children’s programs, sci-fi, almost every genre you can think of with the exception of erotica, violence, horror or productions with language. We strive for the quality of PBS, and work hard to achieve that standard.” Esther lives in the Midwest with what she says are way too many cats and travels extensively as a public speaker.
Patrick McGranahan
Patrick McGranahan has written, produced and directed plays, videos and musicals for local youth, as well as serving as creative director in children’s ministry. He has authored three books, including a young adult novel, Imaginary Jerry, and the Bedtime Story Express short story series. However, lending his voice and production efforts to Mojave Beach Productions has been the highlight of his career. He was not only instrumental in the formation of the audio production network and performs the technical magic to make it all happen, he is also heard acting in a number of the productions. Mojave founder, Esther Luttrell says, “I was dead in the water with my ideas until Patrick called. We’d met years before, when he took my screenwriting workshop at the University of Missouri, but we hadn’t stayed in touch. When he called one day to tell me that he’d written a children’s book, he asked what I was up to and I told him that I was stuck because I didn’t have the technical skills to produce the quality audio programs I wanted to produce. I was so surprised and thrilled to hear that he had expertise in exactly the things I needed help on. To be honest, I’d hired a few people who knew little more than I knew but certainly not enough to achieve the goals I’d set. One night I went to bed really depressed. I said to God, ‘I thought I was doing something good, but I keep doing everything wrong. If anyone comes to me it will be because You sent them.’ Believe it or not, Patrick called first thing the next morning and, with the blessings of his family, we’ve been working long hours ever since, getting Mojave Beach Productions on its feet.” Patrick resides in suburban Kansas City with his large family, including four well-spoiled pets.
Steven Young
Steven Young has been a professional storyteller since he was 19, and since then, has been dipping his toes in the entertainment industry from time-to-time. In the beginning, he worked primarily as a screenwriter, but eventually began producing everything from television shows to commercials, to concerts and non-profits.
Steven says, “The foundation of everything I do revolves around a few things – God, family, luck, and my knowledge of story.”
Currently, he is the owner of Dream Weddings Hawaii, a company that specializes in small beach weddings, and writes on the side.
Steve helped Esther Luttrell from the first act of Mojave Beach Productions, when it was just an idea tossed over the kitchen table, and is now responsible for the company’s website. He looks forward to expanding his role in the audio entertainment network as it grows.
